I’ve taken a short sidestep from the music this week to explore another of my passions - Film!
Here’s some test shots I made using a Canon 7D camera…
For the film geeks:
This is a quick no-frills test of the Canon 7D 50 FPS video function to achieve slow motion.
The frame-rate was adjusted to 25 FPS in After Effects and then cut in Final Cut Express.
The biggest headache I had was a slow memory card which would stop capturing after a few seconds.
It’s shot and edited in 720p.
There’s no colour correction and I’m using the EFS 15-85mm lens that came with the camera and focusing manually. It’s not the greatest lens for achieving a film look but might suit a straight shooter, for me the image was always too sharp.
I also used a monopod to avoid shake and was quite satisfied with how that and the camera stabilization turned out.
Without an external monitor it was a struggle to shoot anything that wasn’t eye-level.
I welcome questions and tips. I’m waiting for a 5D MKII to arrive but want to see how the 7D might be useful as a B-cam.

'Elf & Ant' on Twestival FM
It's time for the indie-music's social-networking event of the year... Twestival 2010 ...and I've just donated a track to the cause.
At the moment I'm the only dot on the map for Sweden, but, the map is slowly populating with artists from all over the globe.
Download 'Elf & Ant', make a donation, or, both here:http://twestival-fm.com/cities/25003
